What can an MBA do for me? An MBA is what you need to achieve your career goals. It will give you an in depth education in business management. Whether you have already decided you are going to study or whether you are just thinking about it this article will help you answer all those questions you have. Am I eligible? Most schools will have their own criteria for prospective students; however there are two main factors that are the most significant at most schools in order to become eligible to study. The first is age and experience. The average age for studying an MBA is anywhere between 25 and 30. Generally speaking a school will not accept applications from anyone under the age of 25 because it is assumed that the level of experience required will not be sufficient. Schools usually require at least 4 years work experience before applying for an MBA course. The second is GMAT score. It is essential to have a GMAT score of at least 600 in order to get into the MBA schools. However, this is not the only requirement, it is also essential to make sure you qualify for the other requirements. It is not a guarantee that you will be accepted based on your GMAT score alone but it does increase your chances dramatically. Why study? An MBA is an internationally recognised qualification and will dramatically improve your career prospects. MBA qualifications do not limit you to working within business roles. They are also beneficial to people looking to pursue executive and managerial roles within the public sector or government employment. An MBA will give you theoretical knowledge of all business concepts and strategies which will be put into use practically during the training and internship parts of the course required in an MBA. MBA training, assignments, reports, presentations and group activities will ensure you have the skills that will be applicable to real life business situations. This part of an MBA will set you apart from those who don’t have such experience and make you a leader in your chosen field. MBA graduates have often felt that the associations formed during the MBA course are resources that are invaluable and can be drawn upon for years after the MBA degree has been achieved. In terms of the skills you will gain and what they can do for your career prospects, you will find that having an MBA opens opportunities in managerial and executive roles in many sectors. The skills you will gain will be beneficial whether you are looking to further your career in your existing job or are looking to change your job. As you can see an MBA is an extremely valuable qualification and will suit your career goals whether you are looking to change your career or just further yourself in your chosen sector.
